On the occasion of its 850th anniversary, Unimore proudly honours its long tradition of culture,
critical thinking, and intergenerational dialogue. Founded in 1175 and formally recognised in 1224,
Unimore honours its medieval origins while reflecting on its role today as a public institution
promoting knowledge and citizenship. The anniversary offers a moment to reflect on the
University’s current role and enduring values. The programme features cultural, scientific, and
institutional events across Modena and Reggio Emilia, highlighting historical research, scientific
innovation, and social inclusion. In facing modern challenges, Unimore reaffirms its commitment to
culture, critical thought, and connecting generations.
