Human Rights and Climate Solidarity: A Seminar at Unimore
On 12 May, the Department of Law at Unimore hosted the seminar “Protecting the Environment and Climate
through Human Rights and the Principle of Solidarity”, as part of the PRIN 2022 project, funded by the EU –
Next Generation EU. The project explores how intergenerational solidarity and human rights can contribute to
environmental sustainability. Coordinated at Unimore by Professor Marco Gestri, the event examined recent
international legal developments in climate matters, including the case law of the European Court of Human
Rights and the request made to the International Court of Justice to clarify states’ obligations in address-
ing the climate crisis. Renowned scholars and young researchers took part in the seminar, supported by
EuropeDirect Modena.
