Unimore Startup Novac Raises €3.5 Million in Funding
The startup Novac, a Unimore spin-off founded in 2020 by a team of under-30 graduates, has closed
a €3.5 million seed round. The investment was secured from Eureka! Fund – Technology Transfer, CDP
Venture Capital SGR, and Galaxia, the national aerospace technology transfer hub. Novac is developing next-
generation supercapacitors for use in the energy, mobility, and industrial sectors, focusing on environmen-
tally sustainable solutions. The startup has received several accolades and participated in incubation and
acceleration programmes such as the Motor Valley Accelerator, Bravo Innovation Hub, and ESA BIC Turin.
The newly acquired funding will be used to build a pilot plant in 2025 and to scale up the technology, with a
particular emphasis on the aerospace sector. The founders and academic mentors of the TACC programme
highlight the crucial role of university-based entrepreneurial education in fostering regional and technologi-
cal development.
