THE ERASMUS EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE EYES OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DISOR-
DERS

The ERASMUS+ Programme for Study is a form of collaboration among Universities that give students the
opportunity to spend a period of study abroad in Unimore partner universities. The issue of international
mobility for the most vulnerable students has been receiving more and more protection in recent years,
and proof of this can be found in recent surveys, which show that more and more students with disabilities
or with SLDs are participating in Erasmus exchange experiences. For students with special needs relating
to physical, sensory, mental or health conditions, the choice of venues must be agreed with the coordinat-
ing teacher in order to check in advance the availability as well as any reception conditions at the partner
venues. It is important that students with special needs, including SLDs, also report their status to the
International Relations Office and the Office for the Reception of Students with Disabilities and SLD. This
makes it possible to support a synergetic collaboration between the student and the offices dedicated to dis-
ability and SLD and those dedicated to the management of study abroad experiences. We asked a number
of Unimore students diagnosed with a specific learning disorder, who left in previous years for the Erasmus
experience, to tell us about their personal and academic experiences, in order to provide those who would
like to experience this adventure with indications and information of various usefulness.
