Il DESU di Unimore si spinge nel territorio alla ricerca
di una didattica innovativa che sa ibridarsi con i
musei : dalla “Scuola In museo” dell’IC “A.Manzoni”
alle esperienze variamente intese come “Scuola
estesa”
Unimore’s DESU reaches out into the local area in search of innovative teaching approaches ca-
pable of integrating with museums: from the ‘School in the Museum’ at the A. Manzoni Comprehen-
sive Institute to various interpretations of the ‘Extended School’
The Department of Education and Humanities (DESU) at Unimore, in collaboration with CERIID, is exploring
innovative teaching practices that connect schools and museums as shared learning spaces. Originating
from the “School in the Museum” project at the “A. Manzoni” Institute in Reggio Emilia during the pan-
demic, this approach has developed into structured initiatives such as the “Week at the Museum” and “A
Year at the Museum”. These experiences support a curriculum focused on heritage and citizenship, and
offer new training pathways for future primary teachers, especially in STEAM education. Now part of the
European “Widespread Education” project, the initiative promotes cooperation between schools and local
cultural institutions. Parallel work in biology education and citizen science, led by Professor Tiziana Altiero,
further strengthens the integration of museums in teacher education and scientific outreach. The project
contributes to DESU’s broader mission to reduce educational inequalities through innovative, hybrid learning
environments.
