Il Corso di Dottorato in Lavoro, Sviluppo
e Innovazione: un dottorato innovativo e
interdisciplinare
The PhD Programme in Work, Development and Innovation: an innovative and interdisciplinary
doctorate
The PhD Programme in Work, Development and Innovation of the “Marco Biagi” Department of Economics,
run in cooperation with the Marco Biagi Foundation, has been active since the 2014/2015 academic year
and represents the natural evolution of the Master’s Degree Programme in Labour Relations. It is divided
into two curricula: “Work, Development and Innovation” and “Industry 4.0”. The curriculum in “Work, De-
velopment and Innovation” provides the methodologies and survey tools to understand the evolution of the
labour market, the socio-economic changes linked to innovative business processes and the dynamics of
territorial economic development. The curriculum in “Industry 4.0” is dedicated to understanding the dynam-
ics of the digital transformation of companies and the development of legal, economic-financial, manage-
ment and managerial tools to govern the transformation of companies and organisations in Industry 4.0. The
training activity consists of lectures, seminars, exercises, practical application of skills through company in-
ternships, basic research and research aimed at specific thesis projects. The internationalisation of the PhD
Programme is important and is reflected in the qualified presence of expert lecturers from universities and
research centres based abroad, in the presence of visiting professors who enrich the training and seminar
programme each year, and in the international mobility of PhD students, which contributes to enriching their
training and research. The employment opportunities for those who obtain a PhD in Work, Development and
Innovation range from academia to research centres, companies or the liberal professions. All information is
